Forty Players to Watch for 2011 Player of Year Award
The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced the names of forty “players to watch” for its 2011 Player of the Year award, the nation’s fourth-oldest individual college football accolade.
Two players from the Pac-12 who were finalists for the 2010 Player of the Year award – Oregon junior running back LaMichael James and Stanford senior quarterback Andrew Luck – lead this year’s Walter Camp watch list.

Walter Camp Hosts Breakfast of Champions
As part of its 44th annual Weekend festivities, the Walter Camp Football Foundation hosted a High School “Breakfast of Champions” this morning at Anthony’s Ocean View in New Haven. The event was sponsored by the Dan Orlovsky Foundation.
All-Connecticut Team, Player of the Year and Coach of the Year announced.

As part of its 44th annual Weekend festivities, the Walter Camp Football Foundation will host a High School “Breakfast of Champions” on Saturday, January 15 at Anthony’s Ocean View in New Haven. The event, which begins at 9 a.m., will be sponsored by the Dan Orlovsky Foundation.
Wisconsin Offensive Guard John Moffitt Named Walter Camp Connecticut Player of the Year
Moffit is a resident of Guilford and a former Notre Dame of West Haven standout
Awarded annually to the top college football player who is a resident of the state of Connecticut, the Connecticut Player of the Year is selected by the all-volunteer membership of the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
Oregon’s Chip Kelly Named Walter Camp 2010 Coach of the Year
Chip Kelly, head coach of the undefeated and BCS National Championship Game-bound Oregon Ducks, has been named the Walter Camp 2010 Coach of the Year.
The Walter Camp Coach of the Year is selected by the nation’s 120 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. Kelly is the first Oregon coach and just the third from the Pacific 10 Conference to earn the award (Arizona State’s Frank Kush in 1975 and Bruce Snyder in 1996).
Xavier High School of Middletown To Receive “Joseph W. Kelly” Award
The Joseph W. Kelly Award, which is awarded annually to Connecticut’s top high school football team.
Xavier was ranked No. 1 in the New Haven Register, New London Day, and Hartford Courant season-ending polls.
Walter Camp 2010 Football Championship Subdivision All-America Team
Three-time selection Mark LeGree (Appalachian State) headlines the Walter Camp Football Foundation 2010 Football Championship Subdivision All-America team.
In all, players from twelve different conferences and 24 institutions were represented on the 2010 Walter Camp FCS All-America team.
Auburn quarterback Cam Newton Named Walter Camp 2010 Player ot the Year
Foundation President Alphonse Paolillo, Jr. made the announcement during ESPN’s 6 p.m. edition of SportsCenter.
The 44th recipient of the Walter Camp Player of the Year award, Newton is the third Auburn player – joining Pat Sullivan (QB, 1971) and Bo Jackson (RB, 1985) – to earn the honor. The Walter Camp Player of the Year is voted on by the nation’s 120 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. Other finalists for the Walter Camp 2010 Player of the Year award included Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck and Oregon running back LaMichael James.
121st Walter Camp All-America Team Announced
Auburn quarterback Cam Newton headlines the 2010 Walter Camp Football Foundation All-America team, the 121st honored by the organization. The nation’s oldest All-America team was announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN.
Top-ranked and undefeated Auburn had the most players (3) selected to the First Team. Oklahoma State and TCU each had two players chosen to the First Team. In all, 23 different schools from eight conferences were represented on the All-America First Team.
