Players from eight different conferences and 21 institutions were represented on the 2011 Walter Camp FCS All-America team. The Big Sky Conferences had the most selections with eight players from six different schools, including three from Eastern Washington. North Dakota State, which will play in the FCS Championship Game on January 7, had two All-America honorees.

Xavier High School of Middletown To Receive Walter Camp’s 2011 “Joseph W. Kelly” Award

It is the second straight year and third time overall that Xavier has earned the Kelly Award. It is also the third consecutive year a team from the Southern Connecticut Conference has won the honor (Notre Dame of West Haven, 2009). The Falcons are also the fourth team to repeat as Kelly Award recipients, joining Ansonia (2006-07), Bloomfield (1998-99) and four-time winner Cheshire (2002-05).

Stanford QB Andrew Luck Selected Walter Camp Player of the Year

The 45th recipient of the Walter Camp Player of the Year award, Luck is the second Stanford player – joining Jim Plunkett QB, 1970) – to earn the honor. Luck is also the eighth player from the Pac-12 Conference – and first since 2005 (Reggie Bush, USC) – to be selected Player of the Year.

Second-ranked Alabama had the most players (4) selected to the First Team, while Stanford had three. Top-ranked LSU had two players chosen to the First Team. In all, 19 different schools from six conferences were represented on the All-America First Team.

Three quarterbacks – Robert Griffin III (Baylor), Case Keenum (Houston) and Andrew Luck (Stanford) – lead the list of five finalists for the Walter Camp Football Foundation 2011 College Player of the Year award.
